Government forces and Houthi fighters continued to clash in Yemen's southwestern provinces of Taiz and Lahij, where control remains divided between the two sides.
The Yemeni army said it carried out 753 precision strikes on Houthi military capacity in 24 hours, while the European Union allocated 22.5 million euros in additional humanitarian aid for the country.
Army reports 753 strikes in 24 hours
Yemeni army spokesperson Majid al-Nuzayli said government forces conducted 753 precision and direct strikes against Houthi military capacity over the past 24 hours, according to a statement posted on the social media platform of the US-based company X.
Al-Nuzayli said the strikes hit forward command and control centers, administrative units, fortifications, firing positions, gathering areas, reinforcement troops, and transport and supply vehicles. The spokesperson said 218 Houthis were put out of action and 78 military vehicles, pieces of equipment and weapons were destroyed or rendered unusable.
Front lines in Taiz and Lahij
The Taiz Military Command, part of the Yemeni army, said government forces and popular resistance units repelled a Houthi attack on the Akrud front in Misrakh district, south of Taiz. The statement said Houthi fighters who took part in the attack were killed and wounded.
Taiz, Yemen's most populous province, is divided between different forces. Government troops hold Taiz city and several other areas, while the Houthis have taken control of some rural and coastal areas in recent weeks.
In Lahij province, government forces said they destroyed two Houthi military vehicles on the Mudaribah front overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Government forces control most of Lahij, while the Houthis hold parts of Mudaribah district on the Taiz border and part of Qubayta district.
Weapons cache seized in Shabwah
Information Minister Muammar al-Iryani said a 13-member Houthi cell and a truck loaded with weapons and explosives bound for the Houthis were seized in Shabwah province in the south of the country, the Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported.
Al-Iryani said the seized items included around 500 automatic weapons, sniper rifles, 120 mm and 106 mm ammunition, high-explosive devices, and ammunition, bombs and components designed for use in drones. The minister said the operation followed intelligence gathering, research, monitoring and coordination work by the relevant security units.
EU adds 22.5 million euros in aid
The European Union's delegation to Yemen said the European Commission had allocated 22.5 million euros in humanitarian aid for Yemen, on top of 87.5 million euros previously set aside for 2026.
The delegation said the new funding aims to ease the impact of renewed fighting and meet the urgent humanitarian needs of millions of people. It said the military escalation has caused large-scale displacement, increased civilian casualties and deepened difficulties in accessing basic services and humanitarian assistance.
