DASAL Aviation Technologies, a subsidiary of Altınay Defense Technologies, demonstrated advanced autonomy, swarm algorithms and multi-platform integration at the International Best Military Flying-Eye Team Competition (BIMDTC-2026), held for the first time by the Turkish Land Forces Command.

The company carried out four operational demonstrations for different mission profiles and also supplied 5-inch MİKON FPV drones to the eight teams competing in the event.

Four operational demonstrations

DASAL presented four main operational demonstrations covering distinct mission profiles. The programme included a five-drone formation designed to protect a team commander, a three-drone tactical screening and target neutralization sequence, a carrier platform range extension concept and a concealed rapid response system for fixed bases and critical facilities.

The company also provided platform support to the eight teams contesting the competition stage, equipping them with 5-inch MİKON FPV drones.

Angel Mode guards the team commander

In the demonstration named "Angel Mode," a swarm of five unmanned aerial vehicles was used to protect a team commander. The aircraft positioned themselves autonomously in a 360-degree circular formation around the commander at the center of the field, providing close protection, continuous perimeter security and situational awareness.

Simultaneous and uninterrupted 360-degree aerial imaging kept the commander's movement in the mission area under constant observation, allowing possible asymmetric threats to be detected at an early stage.

Swarm screens and strikes detected threats

A three-drone swarm then carried out tactical screening and target neutralization against threats identified during the Angel Mode surveillance. Operating with either centralized or decentralized coordination, the swarm created tactical smoke screening in the field and performed dive maneuvers against the target in simultaneous or sequential order.

The sequence also verified the capability to transition autonomously from the reconnaissance and surveillance phase to the attack phase.

MİKON launched from a FALCON C15 carrier

In the carrier platform integration and range extension concept, a MİKON drone fitted to the medium-class FALCON C15 rotary-wing platform developed by DASAL was released in flight from the carrier. After a free fall, the MİKON carried out an autonomous flight mission using its own propulsion system.

The concept, which extends the operational range of micro and mini UAV systems through carrier platforms, demonstrated the MİKON's mechanical and avionic integration with aircraft of different classes and its ability to take over a mission in the air.

Beehive system readies drones for instant launch

DASAL also presented an autonomous, covertly deployed emergency response system for fixed base areas and critical facilities. Called "Beehive," the system looks from the outside like a standard monobloc guard booth and keeps MİKON drones protected from external factors under an openable roof structure, ready for launch around the clock.

When a mission command is issued, the roof mechanism opens and the MİKON platforms take off sequentially in autonomous mode through a dedicated carrier mechanism to perform multi-flight missions. The concept minimizes the reaction time caused by the human factor in the security of border outposts, forward base areas and critical facilities, and allows immediate response to multiple threats without putting personnel safety at risk.

Key takeaways

  • DASAL staged four operational demonstrations at the Turkish Land Forces Command's first International Best Military Flying-Eye Team Competition (BIMDTC-2026).
  • A five-drone swarm provided 360-degree autonomous surveillance around a team commander under the "Angel Mode" concept.
  • A MİKON drone was released from a FALCON C15 carrier in flight and continued on its own propulsion, extending mission range.
  • The concealed "Beehive" shelter keeps MİKON drones ready for autonomous launch at border posts and critical facilities.
